Cornerstone Presbyterian Church is a daughter church of Knox Church in Silver Spring, Maryland. It started as an outreach in March 2000 when a group of members and friends of Knox congregation living along the I-270 corridor began to meet in Germantown to pray. Specifically, this group has prayed for the Lord to establish a strong Reformed witness that would declare the blessings of salvation to the Germantown area. In July 2000, The Lord blessed this work through the provision of a full-time organizing Pastor, Rev. Jim Stastny. The Lord has continued to bless Cornerstone Presbyterian Church over the past few years, strengthening her, and bringing her to the point of being recognized as a particular congregation. Cornerstone Presbyterian Church was received into the Presbytery of the Mid-Atlantic as a particular congregation on December 11, 2004.
It is our prayer that the Lord will continue to build Cornerstone as a strong, outward-looking Reformed congregation centered in the Germantown area of the I-270 corridor.
